The debate over the Big 3’s comparison of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner rages on social media. Tennis coach Mouratoglou sided with the two young stars, retorting to those who consider them inferior to Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Nadal and Andy Murray with some sibylline posts have responded ironically to Mouratoglou, and now even the’former British tennis player Marc Petchey has spoken out on the subject.

Defeat against Novak Djokovic surprised Federer's former coach

To Sky Ljubicic did not mince words: "E' it was a good blow for him"
"He didn’t expect to lose to Djokovic three out of five"

"He will have to analyze the match, Djokovic managed not to play him"

"Jannik was perhaps a bit' too passive, but then so was Alcaraz in the first set"
"Nole played very aggressive tennis. He reminded me of the 17-year-old and 18-year-old Djokovic"
"He went back to playing that tennis, but it&#039s the only way to beat Carlos Alcaraz and Sinner"

Ljubicic also commented on the cramps that affected the two champions, particularly Sinner in the third round
"It’s a situation you can’t control"
"The problem is perhaps a mental block, a fear"

“To say that the Big 4 at its peak would not be up to Alcaraz/Sinner is like saying that Mike Tyson at his peak would lose to Anthony Joshua… It is just pure conjecture, but it is essentially a catch-all opinion, believe me”.

According to Petchey, Alcaraz and Sinner would be inferior not only to the Big 3, but also to Stan Wawrinka at the highest level: “Stan at his peak beats Alcaraz/Sinner. No one has ever reached such heights as Stan. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but that does not mean that that’opinion is correct”.

Sinner will return to the court at the’ATP 500 in Doha: the Blue needs to redeem himself after his elimination in the Austalian Open semifinals, and in the coming months he will not have to defend points given his suspension last season.

The tournament kicks off next Feb. 14, and the winner will receive more than half a million dollars. In addition to Sinner, world number one and number three Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are expected to participate, as well as other top tennis players. After Doha, it will be the turn of the American tournaments, Indian Wells and Miami.
