Jorge Martín: the'operation return begins in Thailand

After skipping the first pre-season test in Sepang, Jorge Martín confirmed in Kuala Lumpur, at the official presentation of the’Aprilia, that he will be present at the Buriram MotoGP tests. For the Spanish rider, this is a particularly significant moment: he will finally be able to experience a real start to the season and prepare himself in the best possible way ahead of the first World Championship appointment, scheduled from February 27 to March 1 at the very Thai track.
Buriram represents for Martín much more than just a stop on the calendar. A year ago, after an injury sustained on the first day of testing in Malaysia, he was planning a return to Thailand of all places, but a crash during a training session with a road bike kicked off a long and unfortunate sequence of physical problems.
In fact, in addition to forgoing the Thai GP, he also skipped the Argentine and U.S. Grands Prix, returning only to Qatar, where he showed encouraging signs, however, it was at that track that he was injured again. Martín returned to Brno after three months with good results, but in the Japanese GP a compound fracture of the collarbone stopped his season again. His world championship effectively ended in Valencia: out of 22 GPs held, Martín participated in only nine rounds, completing just four races.
Looking at the present, Martín said, “My first test will be in Thailand to understand the development process” highlighting his confidence in the work done by Aprilia and the’importance of finally getting back on a MotoGP bike. He admitted that the first few races could be complicated, but reminded that the season is long and that, with the right adaptation, he can aim for the positions that matter. The data collected last year, thanks to Marco Bezzecchi’s work, is also a valuable base, considering the similarity between their riding styles.
Martín’s goal is clear: “I can’t wait for that moment’I can’t wait for that moment” he reiterated, showing enthusiasm and determination. His philosophy remains unchanged: “There is no plan B”. Before flying to Thailand, the Spaniard will undergo a final medical examination in Madrid, decisive to get the final go-ahead and get back in the saddle ahead of the Feb. 21 and 22 tests.
