Bologna has made official the outright acquisition of Tommaso Pobega from AC Milan: the 26-year-old midfielder has also signed a new agreement that binds him to the Emilian club until June 30, 2028, with an option for one more season.

The decision comes after the occurrence of the clause provided in the loan with obligation of redemption, which was triggered following the first point won in Serie A in February and leads the Bologna club to pay about 7 million euros into Milan’s coffers for the transfer.

In the Milan household, the future Luka Modric is always holding the spotlight, with Gazzetta dello Sport focusing on the timing of the choice related to the renewal. According to the rosea, the verdict will come in about three and a half months: not after the World Cup, but before Modric leaves with Croatia for the World Cup. If in order to retain Mike Maignan the Rossoneri club had fielded a real collective pressing for the former Ballon d’Or, a similar “siege” will not be necessary.

The renewal option, in fact, is already provided for in Modric’s contract: in case of Champions League qualification, the salary would rise to about 4.5 million euros net. At that point, the final word will rest solely with the Croatian midfielder. The management is banking heavily on the appeal of returning to Europe’s top competition. In addition to prestige, participation would guarantee economic resources useful in building a more competitive Milan.
