Nick Kyrgios, new venom against Stefanos Tsitsipas
At the heels of his victory in the round of 16 over Brandon Nakashima, Nick Kyrgios appeared in a press conference and spoke about his shoulder problem, a long-standing trouble: “I’ve been playing a lot in the last month and a half and I knew that sooner or later my body would present the con. I think we are normal right now, I think no one is 100 percent.”
The Australian has been inundated with criticism after the controversy with Tsitsipas: “I honestly don’t care. I laugh about it, they are funny. We joke about them with my team. Some of them are just ridiculous. I woke up and read them and laughed. I never forget, whether it’s things from three or four years ago, I don’t forget. Now I’m in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, and I know there are a lot of people angry about this….”
In the quarterfinals Kyrgios will face Garìn: “It’s a great opportunity, Garin is playing great tennis. When I entered the court de Minaur was up two sets and I thought I would probably challenge him. I see it as an opportunity but I have to rest, take care of my shoulder, recover, eat properly and get a good night’s sleep. I need to do several things before I get back on the court.”
