F1, Ferrari and Charles Leclerc have a plan to climb up from the last row
Monegasque maintains optimism despite penalty
He will start from the last row due to the power-unit level change, but Charles Leclerc tries to maintain optimism after finishing Friday in Belgium in second place at the end of both FP1 and FP2.
The Monegasque, speaking to ‘Sky Sport,’ clearly referred to the plan he and Ferrari have laid out to move up grid positions and get the best possible result. “With little gasoline, the pace seems to be slightly worse than with a full tank,” he said. “We are working a lot, we will continue to try to make progress in the night. We focused essentially on the race pace, useless to think about the qualifying pace. That’s how we will try to climb up from the bottom in the race.”
On the approach to the new power-unit, Leclerc added, “We tried different things, followed different programs. It’s very difficult to make a comparison, the feelings though are good.”
