AmeriCup, rain in the arena: Team USA’s competition suspended
The U.S. national team lost its opening match against Mexico
Incredible but true. The USA-Venezuela match, valid for the second day of the AmeriCup, was suspended due to rain. As reported by ESPN, due to massive infiltration inside the Geraldo Magalhaes Sports Gymnasium in Recife, Brazil, the match was suspended at the score of 48 to 21 in favor of the Americans.
The match is expected to be made up on Tuesday, thus forcing Team USA (beaten in the opening match by Mexico) to play three matches in three days. Of note, Coach Jensen’s (Utah Jazz) roster does not include the most acclaimed NBA stars or even second-tier stars. Notable players include Cole, Pargo, and Lamb.
