The mistake, a hint of apprehension, but there should be no consequences.

Charles Leclerc was involved in an accident during the second free practice session in preparation for the Mexican Grand Prix. No physical consequences for the driver, but he destroyed the rear of his Ferrari F-75. The bang, however, should have no consequences for the continuation of his weekend.

Leclerc lost control of his Ferrari while facing the snake at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and was temporarily in seventh position. As race management ordered the red flag, he immediately contacted the team. “I’m okay, the car I think not though,” he quickly admitted.

The Monegasque driver then reached the pits apologizing to the Ferrari men, who were called to extra work in order to provide him with a working single-seater ahead of Saturday’s work. Leclerc, however, is not expected to suffer penalties for replacing delicate components: in fact, according to what has been gathered by ‘Sky Sport’, the peculiarity of the FP2 in Mexico (intended for the development of the Pirelli 2023 tires) has led the Cavallino to fit the F-75 with parts that have already been broken in and in any case are not intended to be used in the race. This also includes the gearbox, which will therefore not be replaced and will not cause any relegation on the grid.
