Virtus wins in Sassari, Sergio Scariolo is direct: “Managing doesn’t exist”
There is a lot of satisfaction after a non-trivial victory.
Virtus Bologna snatched an important 69-74 at PalaSerradimigni in the home of Dinamo Sassari, and Sergio Scariolo in a press conference stressed the considerable specific weight of his team’s success after a decidedly complex week. “This contest presented a very high difficulty coefficient for us. Both because of who we were facing, because of the court factor, but also because not even 24 hours ago we were still in Madrid,” the Emilians’ coach stressed.
Decisive, for the victory, was the tear in the third quarter. “To find the maximum commitment we needed some time,” Scariolo pointed out. “At halftime we told each other, and in the third quarter we were excellent, especially from the defensive point of view. Under the basket, on the other hand, we suffered a bit, but we were good at holding the perimeter. Sassari at home easily reaches 90 points, and we kept them under 70.”
And Scariolo dismissed possible indications of a Virtus Bologna forced to dose its forces after European commitments: “Managing does not exist, then playing after a win in Madrid is certainly not easy. But I understand that one can have wrong feelings of strength. We have to realize that each time we start from scratch, and in each game it is appropriate to make the best choices.”
