Gilardino throws down the gauntlet to the leader
Newly appointed Genoa coach Alberto Gilardino spoke at the press conference on the eve of the challenge against Serie B’s top team, Frosinone, which will be staged at Marassi on Sunday, December 18 at 8:45 p.m.
“Tomorrow will be a good game to play. The ones that everyone would like to play, in front of our fans there is the will to play the right match, the real one with great respect for the opponent but great awareness of what we are,” explained the Rossoblù coach.
Then Gilardino stressed how the challenge against Frosinone could open a cycle for the Grifone: “We have to perceive the moment and the team is doing that. The moment says that at the level of points we are lagging behind however tomorrow is a match that will confront us with a team that is first in the standings and that is making an important path. It is a game that can open a cycle and an important path for us. We have it in our hands and it is everyone’s will.”
Finally, an assessment of his first week at the helm of the Genovese team: “The team has responded from the very first days since I arrived. This week we have had the opportunity to work on both the physical and tactical levels, we have prepared ourselves in the best way and this has been an important aspect. We will have to enhance our qualities and our individual qualities within a group that has to battle on every ball.”
