F1 Ferrari, Carlos Sainz makes a confession about Charles Leclerc
Sainz: “Leclerc showed my limits.”
Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz in an interview with motorsport-total took stock of his season: “I’m not completely satisfied, I’m not going to lie, it was harder than I expected. With all the cars I drove, I always gave my best from the start. It was the first time in my career that I was two or three tenths off the pace-I really had to roll up my sleeves to try to figure out where those tenths were.”
The comparison with Charles Leclerc was decisive: “Charles drove very well in the first half of the season, showing me my limits. I reached a good level with this car and now this is the basis for next year.”
Among the disappointments, Sainz cites the Austin GP: “I think it would have gone very well without the incident with George Russell, we could have won with the pace we had, but that’s the way things went. That also shows some of my bad luck this year. In Austin I was very strong, in Brazil I was very strong, but in Austin I was knocked out of the race by George, and in Brazil I had a grid penalty. I want to be in the title fight from the beginning next year.”
