Dominik Paris, endless crisis: another disappointment for the veteran
Italians disappoint in Bormio’s Super-G
After a seventh-place finish in Wednesday’s downhill, further signs of growth were expected from Dominik Paris, who was, despite himself, the protagonist of a less-than-positive start to the season: the 33-year-old Merano-born, however, did not even manage to complete the Super-G in Bormio, finishing off the course (fortunately without physical consequences) around the middle of the race.
Instead, the race was won, or rather over-won, by Marco Odermatt, who was able to shave 64 hundredths off the second-place finisher, Vincent Kriechmayr, and even 1 second and 22 hundredths off Loic Meillard, third across the line. For Paris it is yet another disappointment in a so far crooked season, which Italian fans and insiders hope will turn around from January onward.
As for the other Italians in the race, the only one in the top-20 is Christof Innerhofer, 19th at 2 seconds and 80 hundredths from Odermatt: “Really difficult race, maybe the most difficult ever,” the 1984-born skier told Fisi channels at the end of the race.
