Mercedes, the Black Arrows return. Hamilton clear on his future
Hamilton returns to hope after negative 2022: “Ready to do anything to win”
After Ferrari and Red Bull, it was Mercedes’ turn to show the world its new single-seater for the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship. The German team changes colors again and returns to the black livery, used in 2020 and 2021. Lewis Hamilton is enthusiastic: “We have redesigned, optimized and innovated many parts of the single-seater and that is impressive. Plus, I love the new livery. It seems to say ‘we mean business.”
The British driver, who has no thoughts of retirement at all (“I want to stay in the sport for a while longer”), faces the season with renewed confidence after a complicated 2022: “I’m excited to be racing again. I feel calm, energized and focused. I am ready to do what it takes to win.”
“We are all anxious to get out on the track and see what we have done. But until next week we won’t know what everyone’s level is.” The first three days of F1 testing are scheduled in Bahrain Feb. 23-25.
