F1, Ferrari: Carlos Sainz dismisses rumors of crisis
Carlos Sainz aims for podium in Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Carlos Sainz spoke during the press conference for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, shrugging off criticism, “I’ve been here for three years and the progress has been huge, now we are facing some problems that we didn’t expect and we are in it, so the atmosphere, I assure you, is much better than what is being said somewhere or some rumors. Sometimes it surprises me that people try to destabilize for a race when it is impossible to know anything or to judge. It is very clear where we need to improve and how to do it in the medium and long term, we are the first to be bothered by it, but I am calm, people are eager, with a clear goal in mind.”
“The start in Bahrain was difficult, but overall we got as much as we could. Leclerc’s penalty is not ideal, but I think for the World Championship it is not important how you start it, but how you finish it, and we will try to keep up the pace of improvements to the car,” Sainz added.
“In Arabia from the podium? I want to think so, the track is completely different from Bahrain, the asphalt, the wings, the speed… I have a feeling that we will be more competitive, I don’t know if we will be at the level of Red Bull, which is extremely complicated, but I am more optimistic and I think we have a good chance of returning to the podium,” concluded Charles Leclerc’s teammate.
