Spal, Moncini mortified over fans: ‘I feel I’m in trouble’
Spal, Moncini blunt: “Performance below expectations”
During an interview at the Spal Sports Center press room, Gabriele Moncini candidly analyzed his team’s season and his personal performance.
“I am not satisfied with either the group or personal results. I had started with the idea of doing another championship, but things turned out differently and various injuries kept me in the pits for quite some time. I am convinced that I have always given 100 percent in terms of commitment and application,” the center forward began.
“A team that is last in the standings has players who tend to be more afraid of missing plays and I think that is normal. In these two weeks, the coach is working on a few basic concepts and I think that to get out of this negative moment, it is essential that the group is united and follows those aspects we are training on,” added the 1996-born.
“I feel uneasy toward the fans,” he confessed, “because such warm squares I have seen very few. They are fantastic because they always support us, they showed it even in the last away match where they filled the corner. What we have to do is not suffer the criticism, which is more than justified on their part, but use it to turn it into new grit to put on the field from here until the end,” Moncini concluded.
