Galbiati proud for Biligha hit
Dolomiti Energia Trentino adds a valuable piece to its long sector: agreement for the 2023-24 season between the bianconero club and center Paul Stephane Biligha. Born in 1990, 200 centimeters for 106 kilos, Biligha brings athleticism, experience and a rich palmarès of successes achieved in recent years in Serie A particularly with the jerseys of Venice and Milan.
The Perugia native with Cameroonian roots has had a steadily rising career through basketball Italy: Biligha took his first steps in Cameroon, where he lived between the ages of 8 and 16, then in Florence returned to Italy. He played in quick succession in Casalpusterlengo, Verolanuova, Crema and Pavia, then in 2012 the jump to Serie A with Avellino. After two seasons in Irpinia Paul moved to Ferentino in A2, then back to the top league with Cremona’s jersey, which he wore for two seasons (traveling in 2016-17 at an average of 11.0 points and 5.2 rebounds). His performance attracts the interest of Reyer Venezia, a club where Biligha plays for two more seasons, winning the 2018 FIBA Europe Cup and the 2019 Scudetto. It is the summer of his move to Milan, where under coach Ettore Messina he wins two Scudetti (2022 and 2023), an Italian Supercup (2020) and two Italian Cups (2021 and 2022). Memorable was his performance in game-5 of the last Scudetto Finals, where with his impact of energy and intensity from the bench he contributed to a key victory in tilting the needle on Olimpia’s side.
Paul is also on the Italbasket roster: with the national team jersey he made his debut right in Trento, during the 2017 Trentino Basket Cup. In total, in Azzurro Biligha has played 66 games and scored 278 points, with a high of 12 scored in Verona’s match against Venezuela in 2019.
“As soon as a chink opened up to try to get Paul, we stopped all the ideas we had in our minds and jumped on him. We are overjoyed that he accepted our offer. I have been lucky enough to cross paths with him several times and he is an exceptional person, as well as a very good player. With his toughness, athleticism and knowledge of the game, we are convinced that he will give us a great hand in trying to achieve our goals,” said HCL coach Paolo Galbiati.
