Memorable Sunday for blue swimming: 6 golds at the European Championships
Memorable Sunday for Italy at the European Short Tub Swimming Championships in Otopeni, Romania: the Azzurri won 6 golds on the very last day, flying to second place in the medal table behind only Great Britain with 7 golds, 12 silvers and 3 bronzes.
The golds were won by Nicolò Martinenghi, gold in the men’s 50 breaststroke (Simone Cerasuolo silver), Lorenzo Mora in the 200 backstroke with an Italian record, Simona Quadarella in the 400 freestyle, Alberto Razzetti in the 400 mixed medley with an Italian record, Benedetta Pilato in the women’s 50 breaststroke, and by the boys from the mixed 4×50 (Mora, Martinenghi, Di Pietro and Nocentini), which finished ahead of France and Holland.
Also worth mentioning is the silver, with national record, of Alessandro Miressi in the 100-meter freestyle, behind Frenchman Maxime Grousset by just 5 hundredths.
