Oliver Bearman, Gunther Steiner warn Ferrari
The Saudi Arabian GP confirmed the domination of Red Bull, which brought home its second consecutive one-two. However, stealing the show è was Oliver Bearman, who, making his debut with Ferrari in place of Carlos Sainz, è managed to get an excellent seventh place ahead of the likes of Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton. On the performance of the young British driver and his future, the former Haas team principal Gunther Steiner è expressed himself without mincing words.
"This performance will have removed many doubts about his abilities. He's in a good position because many contracts expire at the end of this year. Ollie è in a good situation: he canè t go where he wants, but I am convinced that there will be several opportunities for him" began the former Haas team principal as quoted in "FormulaPassion".
"He has a contract with Ferrari, but I don’t know for how long. I think anyone who was interested in him should go and talk to the team and see if è it is possible to get something. Of course you have to take into account what is going on in your driver team. I am convinced that many teams will look at his growth proactively after last weekend’s performance. I think he has a good chance of getting a seat in F1 next year" added the former Italian manager.
"Based on his performance in Jeddah and after what I saw from him when we worked in Hass, I would put him in a car. Of course, it depends on the circumstances and the places available. You have to see the whole landscape, but he would be an important candidate. It doesn't have to be said that he'll be 100 percent successful, but the way he's behaved in qualifying and in the GP in Saudi Arabia, after doing only one hour of practice, suggests that an investment in him would be less risky" concluded Gunther Steiner.
