Claudio Ranieri: "Right to leave now, proud of Cagliari fans"

Claudio Ranieri from Cagliari social channels said goodbye to the Rossoblu fans one last time: "I started my journey here in 1988. But after an almost unexpected promotion and salvation, I decided that the right thing è to leave now, and reluctantly becauseé è a tough decision", said the now former Rossoblu coach.

"You know how afraid I was to return and risk staining the three years that had filled my heart… I did not want to come, several insisted, and when I happened to read the words of Gigi Riva I decided to come back, even risking". 

"Now for" è the time has come to leave us: I hope to be remembered as a positive person, who asked for help from Sardinians. Without them we wouldn't have made it, the public believed in my words, and we managed to keep the boat straight. For this I am eternally grateful: you have given me a wonderful year and a half, I am proud of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart&#rdquo;.

Ranieri coached Cagliari from 1988 to 1991, gaining a double promotion to Serie A, and then in the last year and a half, achieving promotion to Serie A and salvation on the penultimate day.
