Gianmarco Pozzecco: "I touch the sky with one finger"
On Tuesday, May 28, Federbasket president Gianni Petrucci, national team coach Gianmarco Pozzecco and Azzurri head of delegation Gigi Datome attended the presentation of the uniform that Italbasket will wear in the Pre-Olympic Tournament that the Azzurri will have to overcome if they want to participate in the Paris Games.
Corollary initiatives include that of the national airline, ITA Airways, which has dedicated one of its aircraft to the coach, an Airbus A330-900 from its fleet, which bears Gianmarco Pozzecco's name on its hull. An initiative that excited the Azzurri coach in no small way, who described how he felt to official FIP channels.
"Touching the sky with one finger è an overused expression,” he said, “But allow me to use it in this context because I never, ever thought I would see an airplane carry my name in the skies. A unique feeling that I want to share first of all precisely with ITA Airways, which made this possible by including me in a shortlist of Italian athletes who have made sports history in our country".
"It's a great emotional boost for me to see how all the components of the most important Jersey there is, the Azzurra; are gathered here together to push the athletes of our National Teams ahead of a summer that promises to be exciting for the goals to be achieved.
