Sbk, Razgatlioglu scares Ducati: domination in Misano
Superlative Toprak Razgatlioglu: BMW’s Turkish centaur scored a hat trick in Misano, winning after Race-1 and the Superpole Race also Race-2 of the Italian round of the Superbike World Championship. Razgatlioglu dominated the second heat by putting behind the two Ducatis of Nicolò Bulega and world champion Alvaro Bautista.
It was another show of strength by the Turkish rider, who briefly dueled with Bulega only in the first few laps and then overtook him in the seventh and went on to win without any fuss.
In the overall standings Razgatlioglu has thusì stretched right over Bulega, new second in the rainbow standings ahead of Bautista. Also in the top 10 were Alex Lowes (Kawasaki) and the two Ducatis of Andrea Locatelli and Danilo Petrucci, in fifth and sixth place respectively. Andrea Iannone è tenth.
The Turkish rider’s victory casts doubt on Ducati’s supremacy in the production derivatives, as Bautista had warned in recent days: "The point è the setup of the bike, which does not work like last year. It seems like every Friday we have to start from scratch to build the setup, sometimes we do it earlier and sometimes late. We are always on the edge. The only thing to do è keep working to improve, we have to make a step as Ducati, not just as a team. BMW has worked very well and è very strong in every area, they don’t have a clear weakness".
