Thomas Ceccon won the 100 backstroke at the 60ª edition of the Settecolli Trophy in Rome. The swimmer from Veneto finished the final with a time of 52''43 ahead of the final touch Michele Lamberti, second with a time of 53''35, a time that paves the way for him to go to the Paris Olympics. Rounding out the podium, then, is Christian Bacico with 54'' 05. A’great performance for the Italian, already qualified for the Paris Olympics in this very specialty, which also earned him the championships record.
Nicolò Martinenghi wins the 100 breaststroke. The Italian, an Olympic bronze medalist in Tokyo, finished his split with a time of 58''90 ahead of Dutchman Corbeau with 59″23 while third è Ludovico Viberti with a personal best at 59″27, a time that represents the standard to participate in the Paris Olympics. Off the podium, however, was Adam Peaty who finished in 59″51.
Benedetta Pilato won the women’s 100 breaststroke. The Taranto native, already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, finished ahead of everyone with a time of 1'05″44, which earned her the Italian record. It was a capital performance by the Italian swimmer who preceded Britain's Evans, second in 1'05″91, and the other Italian Martina Carraro, third with a time of 1'06″43.
