Sinner and Alcaraz battling for number one, the rebel tennis player is confident: "He will win more"

The great rivalry between Jannik Sinner, who just became world No. 1, and his great opponent Carlos Alcaraz is dominating men’s tennis in recent years and has become a topic of discussion for all. Alcaraz is already rapidly climbing the all-time great rankings: his victory at the Australian Open in January handed him his seventh Slam at just 22 years old.
Sinner, for his part, can boast two Australian Open titles, one US Open title, and his first Wimbledon triumph, achieved by beating Alcaraz in the very final last year. In addition, his Sunshine Double without losing a set, followed by his victory in Monte Carlo, left everyone speechless.
Volcanic former world number 18 Benoit Paire has ventured a prediction about who will win the most Grand Slam titles at the end of his career. In an interview with Tennis 365, the Frenchman opened up about the challenge between the two phenomena: “I would say Sinner will win more Slams than Alcaraz. I think he is extremely solid on concrete and has a slightly more focused and determined mentality. He wants to win everything, and that’s the real difference from Alcaraz. I may be wrong, I don’t know, but that’s what I think,” Paire pointed out.
“In the future it will be an epic battle between these two. I hope other players will also emerge, like Joao Fonseca, but at the moment men’s tennis revolves around them,” Paire said quietly. “I played against Juan Carlos Ferrero during my career and he once told me, ‘You have to watch this guy, because he’s really strong.’ After just one year Alcaraz was already at the highest level, and we all saw how good he was. He has matured at an impressive rate and has already achieved extraordinary results. At 22 years old, he has already won several Slams: that is something special.”
“I think Alcaraz can try to chase Novak Djokovic’s record, and I think it is possible. The only question mark for me remains the mental one. You can see that he also likes to have fun, and sometimes that can create some psychological difficulties for him. So we don’t know what Alcaraz will be like in ten years.”
Sinner, on the other hand, is much more centered: “To me it is incomprehensible how you can be so professional consistently, living in that ‘tunnel’ all the time. You win one Slam and the next day someone like Djokovic is already thinking about the next one. I can’t believe it. If I won a Slam, I would not be seen for a whole year-I would be too busy celebrating!”
