Madrid, Jannik Sinner-Alexander Zverev will be the final: when it is played and how to watch it on TV

Jannik Sinner’s opponent in the Madrid Masters 1000 final will be Alexander Zverev. The German, who had already met the current number one in the world three times this year, always at the semifinal level (in Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo, always coming out defeated) in fact beat Alexander Blockx, one of the surprises of the tournament being played at the Caja Magica, in two sets after an hour and thirty-seven minutes of play.

Few things to say about the first fraction: Zverev immediately won the break after one game, replicated a little further to take a 4-1 lead and concluded without any particular worries. Decidedly more complex was the second set in which Blockx, with nothing more to lose, held out until 5-5, only to suffer the decisive break in the 11th game: it ends 6-2, 7-5 for Zverev, who will play to win a tournament in the final for the first time this 2026.

This will be the fourteenth head-to-head between Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner: the South Tyrolean won, somewhat surprisingly, the very first head-to-head clash in 2020, in the round of 16 at Roland Garros, only to lose the next four matches between the same 2020 and 2023. From 2024 on, however, Sinner has become a veritable white whale for Sascha, who has never won in the eight direct clashes played until 2026.

The final will be played on Sunday, May 3, at 5 p.m.: a few hours earlier, at 2 p.m., the women’s doubles final will also be played, which, barring unforeseen events, should not cause any changes to the day’s schedule. As for live TV, the match will be visible on Sky Sports channels via satellite and streaming on Now. There are currently no plans for a live free-to-air broadcast.
