Juventus Transfer Market: Last-Minute Bid for the Discontented Kosovar
Luciano Spalletti has decided not to include Edon Zhegrova on Juventus’ roster for the upcoming Europa League. Although this is far from surprising, it was not an easy decision for the Tuscan coach, especially considering the encouraging signs shown by the Kosovar player during the summer friendlies.
His exclusion from the European competition could now also affect the player’s future, and he is the first to be disappointed by the situation that has arisen. Juventus, in fact, remains ready to evaluate any offers from countries where the transfer window is still open. Among the possible destinations is, above all, Saudi Arabia—a market always on the lookout for quality players and with significant financial resources—not to mention Portugal and Turkey. Should an offer deemed adequate come in, the Bianconeri could consider either a permanent transfer or a loan move.
Zhegrova’s time with Juventus has been plagued by physical issues from the very beginning. Arriving from Lille in the summer of 2025, the 1999-born player made just 19 Serie A appearances last season, failing to score a single goal. This performance was a far cry from what he showed in France, where he scored 26 goals during his three and a half years with the northern club. Also worth noting are the two surgeries he underwent for groin pain, which affected his performance—a factor that further complicates potential buyers’ assessment.
Among the clubs that had shown concrete interest in recent weeks was Lazio, with sporting director Fabiani confirming that contacts had taken place. The Biancocelesti had proposed a loan without an obligation to buy, considering the player’s salary—approximately 2.5 million euros—to be affordable. The deal, however, did not materialize: in addition to the financial feasibility of the transaction, the Kosovar player’s past physical issues had dampened the Rome-based club’s enthusiasm.
Al-Ittihad, a Saudi club that remains one of the hottest leads, had also shown interest in him. In this regard, time is running out: the transfer window in Saudi Arabia closes on September 6, effectively ending that window already. However, options leading to Turkey and Portugal remain viable, with their respective transfer windows having closed on September 4 and 5, while Greece offers a longer window, set to close on September 15.
