The death of Evaristo Beccalossi is provoking hundreds of reactions in the world of soccer, among them the most significant are those of his former teammates. His former partner Alessandro ‘Spillo’ Altobelli, reached by Corriere della Sera, is certainly among the most tried.

Altobelli was the protagonist right with Beccalossi of Inter’s 1980 Scudetto: “The real dead one is me, I’m in Kuwait and I’m looking for flights to come back,” said the former Azzurro.

Another companion from the 1980 Scudetto, Giampiero Marini, recalled Beccalossi as follows, “Evaristo was a very dear friend, we often got together with other former Inter men for dinner and he, more than anyone else, brought joy. He will be sorely missed. I had the privilege of being his teammate and he was a footballer who was also very much appreciated by the fans. With him, on the field, I spent wonderful years. Today it is difficult to find such footballers, with that class and imagination. He was born to play, he brought joy.”

Former Nerazzurri defender Fulvio Collovati paid tribute to him this way on social media: “Dear Becca, you were great, sometimes misunderstood, there were 10 like you now! It was an honor to have played together with you.”

Great remembrance also from former Inter goalkeeper Ivano Bordon: “Today I am reminded of the good time we had together, they were wonderful years. And I think of all soccer fans, not only Inter fans, because the death of Evaristo Beccalossi is a loss for everyone.”

The Nerazzurri club also wanted to pay a moving farewell to its former fantasist through a touching letter published on its official website. “FC Internazionale Milano and the whole Inter world join the condolences for the passing of Evaristo Beccalossi and, in remembering him, embrace his family members. It seems impossible to us. In the folds of memories and in everyday life, Evaristo was always one of us. Ineffable, like his dribbles, unique, like his way of handling the ball.”
