Third promoted to the A, the'Artificial Intelligence gets unbalanced

With the challenges to be played this evening between Modena and Juve Stabia (6:45 p.m.) and between Catanzaro and Avellino (9 p.m.), the playoffs kick off from which the name of the team that will accompany Venezia and Frosinone to Serie A will arise. We asked Artificial Intelligence to analyze the mini-tournament, which will also involve Monza and Palermo, and asked it to give its opinion on what the promotion percentages of the six teams at the start may be. The tool expressed itself as follows: Monza 36%, Palermo 31%, Modena 12%, Catanzaro 10%, Juve Stabia 6%, Avellino 5%. Now the word goes to the field.
Venezia and Frosinone have already punched their ticket to the top flight: the lagunari finished as champions, while the ciociari overwhelmed Mantova on the last day with a clear 5-0 win, coming within one point of the Veneti. For Monza and Palermo, on the other hand, the path to Serie A passes through the semifinals of the playoffs, to which they gain direct access thanks to third and fourth place in the standings.
The postseason schedule calls for the winners of tonight’s preliminary round to face precisely the two top seeds: whoever passes between Modena and Juve Stabia will face Monza in the semifinals, while the winner of Catanzaro-Avellino will take on Palermo. The first leg matches are scheduled for May 16 and 17, the returns on May 19 and 20. In the event of an overall tie after the 180 minutes, the best placed team will advance directly, without recourse to extra time or penalty kicks.
This evening’s matches will be played in a single match at the home of the best-placed team in the regular season: thus Modena hosts Juve Stabia, while Catanzaro welcomes Avellino. In both cases, in the event of a tie at the end of regulation time, extra time will be played, and the home team will pass the round even in the event of a further tie.
It is worth mentioning how the four protagonists of the preliminary round arrived at this date with different paths on the last day of the championship: Catanzaro lost at home to Bari 3-2, Modena succumbed 1-0 in Avellino – precisely against Catanzaro’s opponent tonight – while Juve Stabia drew 1-1 on the field of Südtirol. Avellino, for its part, clinched the last playoff spot thanks to that very success over the Canarini, with an own goal by Bagheria.
