Daniil Medvedev answered Jannik Sinner and won the second set of the semifinal of the Internazionali d’Italia in Rome. The Azzurro, who appeared tired and in a lot of pain, dropped abruptly in the second partial, conceding two breaks, after a flawless first set: now he and the Russian will play everything in the third and decisive set.

Straordinary match approach for Jannik Sinner: in fact, the South Tyrolean champion immediately broke the Russian player in the first game, at the end of several prolonged exchanges. Then he retorted in the third game, again breaking serve from the Muscovite. On his serves, however, he was excellent, closing the first two games to zero.

Medvedev managed to get into the match after only twenty minutes, winning the first game at serve, but Sinner on serve was relentless with the first and closed the set 6-2 making the audience of the Central court at the Foro Italico rejoice.

In the second set the opposite happened at the beginning: it was the Russian who started off very strong, while the Italian tennis player suffered an initial physical decline. Medvedev grew on his serve and broke the world number one in the second game, definitely raising the level of his tennis.

The Azzurro, who appeared very tired and in pain, managed to hold serve after an endless fourth game in which he cancelled three break points to the Muscovite, and in the next game he broke Medvedev, putting the result back in balance after the false start in the second partial. Sinner, always suffering on serve, saved two set points in the 11th game, but then broke in the third, allowing Medvedev to take the set.
