Lazio Transfer Market: Gennaro Gattuso’s Arrival Is Official, with Five New Signings Expected

It’s now official: Gennaro Gattuso is Lazio’s new head coach. The former midfielder takes over from Maurizio Sarri on the Biancocelesti bench and will be tasked with reviving a team coming off a difficult season, marked by fan protests and transfer market challenges.
In an official statement, the club announced the coach’s appointment: “S.S. Lazio S.p.A. announces that it has appointed Mr. Gennaro Gattuso as head coach of the First Team. The club warmly welcomes the new coach, confident that his experience, professionalism, and determination will help the club achieve its sporting goals.”
Although the announcement was made official only today, an agreement between the parties had already been reached in recent weeks. This is precisely why Gattuso had begun to outline his priorities ahead of the summer transfer window: a center back, a center forward, and an attacking midfielder suited to his potential 4-2-3-1 formation. However, the club’s strategy remains tied to player sales. Any incoming transfers will depend on outgoing ones, and the names of Alessio Romagnoli and Mario Gila are among those who could provide the necessary funds to free up the Biancocelesti’s transfer budget.
Among the targets being monitored by Lazio is Asp Jensen, an attacking talent born in 2006 for whom a preliminary agreement is already in place. The deal, however, has been temporarily put on hold because Gattuso is particularly interested in Luca Stojković of Dinamo Zagreb, who is considered more ready for the leap to Serie A. The 22-year-old Croatian player is valued at around 10 million euros. The coach is very familiar with Croatian soccer thanks to his recent stint as head coach of Hajduk Split, and he has also reportedly requested the signing of a “box-to-box” midfielder to partner with Taylor in order to increase dynamism and intensity in midfield.
According to rumors, President Claudio Lotito has assured Gattuso that four or five new players will be signed. To kick off these moves, however, the club will first need to generate cash through player sales: the goal is to raise approximately 19.5 million euros, a sum that would then allow the club to reinvest in new signings.
