Torino continues to make moves in the transfer market to provide Ignazio Abate with a more competitive roster. The coach, who took over from Roberto D’Aversa this summer, highlighted the need to improve the quality of the team across multiple positions after the Coppa Italia match against Carrarese.

Among the players who could leave is Ché Adams, whose contract expires in June. The Scottish forward has reportedly received expressions of interest from Cagliari. The Sardinian club’s inquiry has reportedly prompted sporting director Gianluca Petrachi to consider a potential deal involving Sebastiano Esposito.

Adams’s time with Torino seemed set to end as early as last spring, when sporting director Petrachi had begun seriously considering selling the Scottish player to generate a significant capital gain. At the time, several Premier League clubs, including Brighton and Wolverhampton, had shown interest in the forward, with his value estimated at around 11–12 million euros. However, the English clubs did not make a move, and Adams remained with Torino, even though he did not renew his contract, which is now set to expire in June.

Torino had already sought to sign the Inter-trained forward at the start of the summer but then backed off in the face of Cagliari’s financial demands. Now the situation has changed, and Esposito could leave Sardinia—so much so that Torino has reopened talks with both the club and the player’s representatives.

After all, Torino’s interest in Esposito stems from a long and careful evaluation: as early as last spring, Petrachi had sent scouts to Sardinia to closely monitor the 2002-born player, who had put in a convincing season with the Rossoblù. However, the relationship between Esposito and Cagliari gradually deteriorated over the summer, culminating in a definitive breakdown: the player failed to report to training camp, and the club even issued an official statement noting his unauthorized departure from the Ponte di Legno training camp. President Tommaso Giulini has described the situation as now irreparable, making the striker’s transfer inevitable.

Initially, Petrachi had considered a loan with an option to buy, but Cagliari’s interest in Adams could lead to a different solution: a swap between the two forwards, a possibility the clubs could explore in the coming days.
