Juventus Transfer Market: Spalletti Gives the Green Light—A Change in Strategy for the Young Talent

Juventus has decided: Adin Licina needs a stepping stone before joining the Bianconeri’s “big names.” The 2007-born player, considered one of the most promising prospects in the Next Gen program, showed quality and character during preseason, taking the field against Basel, Standard Liège, and Nice, and was also called up to the first team for the tour in Hong Kong and Australia, though he did not play against Chelsea, Inter, or Palermo.

Upon returning to Italy, he was initially reassigned to the reserve team, which competes in Serie C, but this arrangement did not convince the Old Lady’s coaching staff, who believed that forcing the young German—who, like Kenan Yildiz, came from Bayern—to remain in the third division would be a risk to his professional development. The club, together with Luciano Spalletti, therefore changed its strategy, opening the door to a loan in Serie B.

The idea is to place Licina in a challenging environment, with a coach who focuses heavily on developing young players. According to ‘Tuttosport’, the chosen destination is Avellino, where the 19-year-old would be placed under the guidance of Alessandro Nesta. The Avellino side, fresh off a season in which they—as a newly promoted team—unexpectedly qualified for the playoffs and intent on securing a spot in the upper half of the standings, represents an ideal environment: just the right amount of pressure, clear objectives, and a coach who can guide him as he takes the next step in his development.

Juventus has no intention of losing control over the player: the deal will be a straight loan, aimed exclusively at his development. Licina remains a technical and financial investment for the Bianconeri, but the priority right now is to get him playing, growing, and improving in a league at a higher level than Serie C.
