2026-2027 Serie A: Lecce vs. Monza, Probable Lineups
Two teams in need of points to avoid relegation: Lecce and Monza. The season has just begun, but it seems that both Eusebio Di Francesco’s and Ivan Juric’s teams will have to fight hard—and I mean really hard—to stay in the top flight.
The newly promoted Biancorossi, who lost their first two matches—though they certainly didn’t play poorly—head into the match at Via del Mare on the back of a point earned in Parma, thanks to a 1-1 draw against Carlos Cuesta’s Ducali. The situation is different for the Giallorossi, who started strong with a win in Venice but then suffered a heavy home loss to Roma (0-4) and a narrow defeat in Cagliari.
For Monza, the Salento stadium is steeped in history: there, in their first appearance in the top flight on September 11, 2022, they earned their first point. The match ended 1-1 with goals from Sensi and Gonzalez: the Brianza-based side broke their scoring drought, but Giovanni Stroppa, the coach who led them to promotion to Serie A, was fired a few hours later to make way for Raffaele Palladino, who would guide them to a comfortable survival. Eusebio Di Francesco is expected to start Siebert in place of Gaspar, with Veiga, Tiago Gabriel, and Gallo playing in front of Falcone. No changes in midfield from the lineup against Cagliari: Coulibaly, Ngom, and Ilic will play behind the attacking trio of Pierotti, Stulic, and Monteiro.
Ivan Juric is considering making some changes to the offense to give his team a boost. At the back, the trio of Kouadio, Lucchesi, and Carboni is confirmed, with Thiam in goal. Birindelli and Mangas will man the flanks, with Akinsanmiro and Folorunsho in the center. Colpani is expected to start, but Foe-Ondoa is pushing for a starting spot. Varela and Cutrone will play even though they aren’t 100% fit.
