Paolo Bertolucci, writing in *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, commented on Jannik Sinner’s decision to work with Magnus Norman after parting ways with Darren Cahill. The Swedish coach, who has worked with Stan Wawrinka, is one of the most highly regarded in the world.

“The decision to appoint Magnus Norman as Sinner’s new coach starting next year fits perfectly with the path already laid out in 2022, when Cahill was brought onto the team,” Bertolucci stated. The Swede is a man of great value and a skilled coach who understands the art of keeping a low profile and humility combined with a strong work ethic: we’ll never see him celebrating a point boisterously or losing his temper in the box; rather, his presence will be discreet and charismatic, as he has already demonstrated during his years working alongside Wawrinka.”

“I wouldn’t rule out that Cahill’s influence—as a not-so-subtle advisor—might be behind this decision: after all, Sinner looks for people on his team with whom he can build an immediate relationship of trust and with whom he can develop a connection that goes beyond the game of tennis.”

According to Bertolucci, Norman could bring something new to the table: “Aggressiveness in rallies has always been the cornerstone of the former Roland Garros finalist’s (in 2000) tennis philosophy, and in this sense, with Jannik—who excels at setting an ever-faster pace with every shot—he’ll practically be playing on home turf. Obviously, none of the qualities he has honed over the years will be compromised, and we’ll work to consolidate his already well-known strengths, from his serve to his tactical variations. If anything, Norman will be instrumental in helping him with another key strength: managing pressure and preparing mentally for the run-up to major tournaments and then for the match itself.”
