Remco Evenepoel returns to the Giro d’Italia
Evenepoel to start at Giro d’Italia 2023
Remco Evenepoel, a Belgian rider from the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl team, will ride the Giro d’Italia in 2023, returning to the race where he made his Grand Tour debut and bringing back the rainbow jersey of world champion eleven years after the last time – Mark Cavendish in 2012. It was announced by the world champion himself in a video posted on his social channels.
After an unprecedented 2022, which saw him take fifteen victories, including Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Clasica San Sebastián, two stages and the general classification at the Vuelta a España, and the World Road Championships, Remco has his eye on the Pink Race in 2023.
The 22-year-old Belgian will be on the starting line in Fossacesia Marina on May 6, ready to tackle the famous Italian Grand Tour. Next year’s edition will see riders cover 3448 kilometers in the 21 stages, with an elevation gain of 51,300 meters, and tackle the climbs of Monte Bondone, Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Monte Lussari.
