St. Moritz, Sofia Goggia is in: “It was dark, but I’m satisfied.”
Excellent test, however, conditioned by darkness and wind, of the athlete Azzurra
Back from her double downhill win on the Canadian snows of Lake Louise, Sofia Goggia was busy in the first time trial in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where Friday and Saturday the specialty races will be held. The Bergamasque athlete, who came down with bib number 15, finished in 1’30″12, 32 hundredths behind U.S. Isabella Wright, who was first in a surprise 1’29″80 and came down with bib number 35.
At the end of the run, the Azzurra champion was satisfied with her descent, also explaining the difficulties perceived along the course: “The first run was satisfactory: up to number 15 we all went down in the dark, some with a bit of wind, but the visibility was pretty flat and you couldn’t see well,” Goggia began in the words reposted from the FISI website.
“All the more reason I had a good run, I was on my feet, on my bearings. There are some lines to file, however, in general I made a harmonious descent. In the last jump I jumped more than 50 meters, and there we will have to understand a moment for the race, in which we will surely come faster. Overall I put in good skiing, a good first run with a good feeling,” he concluded.
