F1, Verstappen blunt: “Melbourne unkind in past years”

Just days before the Australian GP, the third round of the F1 season, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez spoke about their two consecutive one-two finishes and their respective expectations for the Melbourne race.

“I’m looking forward to going back to Australia, it’s always nice to be there and live a little bit in Melbourne, but from a racing perspective it hasn’t been too kind to us in past years. The track is great, with some high-speed corners, and I like driving here. Hopefully we can have a good weekend and stay consistent from free practice until the race. We haven’t won here as a team since 2011, so we hope to break that taboo,” Verstappen said in the note issued by Red Bull.

“I am enormously proud of the team and our performance in Jeddah. I managed to stay consistent on all three days, but we are only in the second race and we need to keep pushing to make sure we continue this fantastic start. Melbourne will be a new challenge for us and for the car. We have very good pace and are working hard to improve from a reliability standpoint as well. It’s been a fun start, but it won’t matter if we don’t keep our competitiveness and focus high,” added Perez
