Jannik Sinner ko in Miami

No dice in the Miami final for Jannik Sinner, defeated 7-5 6-3 by Medvedev.

The South Tyrolean struggled especially in the first set, which was also marked by the intervention of the physiotherapist, but the Russian came out on top on his own service turns and when a tie-break seemed possible he signed the decisive 7-5.

Sinner, evidently not at his best, immediately slipped to 2-0 down but recovered a break before finally raising the white flag under the blows of a rival who had never been beaten in the previous five.

For the Italian number one, therefore, the appointment with the first triumph in a 1000 tournament is again postponed.

Jannik Sinner, born in San Candido on August 16, 2001, despite having achieved excellent results in skiing since childhood, decided at the age of 13 to devote himself exclusively to tennis, moving to Bordighera, at the court of Riccardo Piatti. A choice that will prove successful, as Sinner is the youngest Italian tennis player ever to enter the top 100 (October 2019) and to win an Atp title in the Open era (Sofia 2020). In addition, along with Matteo Berrettini, Jannik is the only Italian tennis player to have reached at least the round of 16 in all four Slams. For him, 2022 was the breakthrough year: he left Piatti to rely on Vagnozzi.
