Sofia Goggia reveals her plans for the immediate future
Just after vacationing in Sardinia, Sofia Goggia is undergoing her first week of ski training on the Passo dello Stelvio glacier ahead of the upcoming World Cup season. The 30-year-old 2018 Olympic downhill champion and silver medalist in 2022 was interviewed by Rai’s correspondent at the parterre of the women’s World Cup races Simone Benzoni, statements filmed by Neveitalia, in which she tells for starters her goals for the immediate future.
“I also plan to do a week on skis in July, then a few days in August before the trip to Argentina, which we will postpone a bit to take advantage of the winter conditions until the last. The most important race is always the next one and I approach everything with this attitude. A goal? I would very much like to bring out my potential in super-G, a discipline that is very dear to me in which, however, I have never yet been able to express myself so freely, continuing on my standards in downhill.”
“With the Goggia character I’ve been living with it for a few years now (after all, she herself splits her two personalities, “Sofia” and “Goggia,” ed.), it’s a condition that I live comfortably even if sometimes the commitments are really many. A jump into show business? In the meantime, let’s think about putting on a show with sports. The internal competition in the team is a stimulus, a driving force to do better and better because I myself always observe everyone to understand how they do certain steps and what I can learn.” Closing on Milan Cortina 2026. “I look at it with my feet firmly planted in the present, because every step we take today conditions the future. There are so many goals to achieve before the Olympics, which are also built in the World Cup seasons.”
