Swimming, Alberto Razzetti in Paris also in 400: Italian record broken
More passes for the 2024 Olympic Games arrive
The Winter Absolute Swimming Championships in Riccione concluded on Thursday, with a very important result obtained by Alberto Razzetti: the 24-year-old, who had already won the title in the 200 medley, qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games, repeated himself in the 400 by finishing in 4:09.29, 59 hundredths better than Luca Marin’s Italian record, which had stood for 16 years.
It was also a special day for Alessandro Miressi, who won the 100 freestyle and in turn detached his pass for Paris. Benedetta Pilato among the women and Nicolò Martinenghi at the men's level confirmed their mastery of the 50 breaststroke: the latter, together with Simone Cerasuolo, obtained a time useful to qualify for the World Championships in Doha (February 2-18, 2024).
The qualifiers for the Olympic Games in the French capital are already five: in addition to Razzetti and Miressi, there are Gregorio Paltrinieri in the 1500 freestyle, Thomas Ceccon in the 100 backstroke and Benedetta Pilato in the 100 breaststroke. Before the important events of 2024 there's still time, however, to compete in the European Short Course Championships, in Otopeni (Romania) from December 5 to 10.
Next year's flagship event will inevitably be the Five Circles: the pool races will be run at the Paris La Défense Arena from July 27 to August 4, the two open water marathons will be held instead on August 8 and 9 (first the women's, then the men's).
