Alexander Zverev thanks the Foro Italico and makes an admission about Jannik Sinner

On the eve of the all-important final of the Internazionali d'Italia, Alexander Zverev, speaking at a press conference, among other topics, dwelt on the warmth he received from the Italian public throughout the tournament. In thanking the fans at the Foro Italico, the German tennis player could not miss a reference to Jannik Sinner, whose presence for Roland Garros would still be in doubt.

"It&#39s funny that when I play in Italy, it&#39s actually one of the three countries where I get the most support. I feel like I am Italian when I am here. I always get so much support, so much love, so much energy from the public. I felt the warmth of the fans and that helped me. The Italians are a crazy crowd and I always enjoy coming here. I could never replace Sinner, but maybe for this week, if the spectators saw a little bit of him in me, I would be very happy" began the world number five.

"I hope this tournament represents a turning point for me. I won my first Masters 1000 here when I was 20 years old and now I could always come back to win a 1000 in Rome after my injury. I would be very happy to succeed, becauseè Rome è a city that I love even outside tennis" continued the German tennis player.

"I think Jarry is one of the most aggressive players on the tour. He obviously has a great serve and a great forehand. He tries to hit a lot from both sides of the court. He had a very impressive win against Tsitsipas. He's been down for almost the whole match, but è always managed to come back" added the number three seeded player about his opponent in the final.

In conclusion, Alexander Zverev provided an update regarding his finger injury: "My finger è quite swollen. I think I dislocated a phalanx, but there's nothing broken. I took x-rays in the past few days and everything was okay, which is why I was able to play with Tabilo. I managed the pain with painkillers. The finger è still very big, but the situation è manageable".
