Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner unlucky: possible derby with Berrettini and in Alcaraz’s side
Wimbledon: men’s singles draw
Late this morning è the men’s singles draw for Wimbledon, the third Slam of the season, kicking off Monday, July 1. Jannik Sinner, who will play his first major as world number one, was definitely not lucky. On his way, in fact, a path full of pitfalls, already starting from the very first rounds.
After his debut with German Yannick Hanfmann, in fact, the South Tyrolean could already face Matteo Berrettini (who will face Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in his debut) in the second round, in a derby that is as fascinating as it is rather tough. In the third round Jannik could cross again Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands, who is at ease on grass, while in the round of 16 one between Ben Shelton of the United States and Nicolas Jarry of Chile.
But this is not the end of the story: Sinner, in fact, è has been drawn in the same part of the draw as the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, whom he will only be able to challenge in the semifinals, as was the case at Roland Garros. In the previous round, in the quarterfinals, possible challenge with one between Russian Daniil Medvedev and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.
As for the other Azzurri, Lorenzo Musetti will face France's Constant Lestienne, Matteo Arnaldi opposes the U.S. Frances Tiafoe, Luciano Darderi draws Britain's Jan Choinski, Flavio Cobolli faces Australia's Rinkky Hijikata, Lorenzo Sonego finds Argentina's Mariano Navone. Finally, for Luca Nardi there'è Argentina's Thomas Martin Etcheverry, for Fabio Fognini there'è Germany's Dominik Koepfer and for Mattia Bellucci the American Ben Shelton.
