Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner and Jasmine Paolini lead the tricolor patrol: program and schedule
Nine Italians on the court on Monday at Wimbledon
.
With the arrival of the first day of July, the wait of fans and insiders for the Wimbledon Tournament, the third Slam of the season and the only one on grass, comes to an end. As many as nine Italians will be on the court on the opening day, as far as the men's and women's draw is concerned: leading the tricolor patrol will be world No. 1 among men, Jannik Sinner, and No. 7 overall among women, Jasmine Paolini.
Starting at 12 p.m. in Italy, Matteo Arnaldi, who will play on Court 15 against Frances Tiafoe (seeded No. 29), and Fabio Fognini, who will face Luca van Assche on Court 16 as a replacement for Dominik Koepfer, who forfeited before the opening round.
Next, no earlier than 1:30 p.m. (all times depend on when the previous matches on the same court will end), will be Matteo Berrettini against Marton Fucsovics on Court 12, while Jasmine Paolini will start no earlier than 2 p.m. on Court 3 against Sara Torribes Tormo, a match that will be followed, on the same court, by that between Martina Trevisan and the number 12 on the scoreboard, Madison Keys.
Taking the court no earlier than 5 p.m. will be Mattia Bellucci, who is engaged in a very difficult match against world number 14 Ben Shelton on Court 18, Lorenzo Sonego, who will face Mariano Navone on Court 5, and veteran Sara Errani, who will try to give WTA number 26 Linda Noskova a tough time on Court 4.
The spearhead of Italian tennis, Jannik Sinner, will not see the court until 5:30 p.m. against his near namesake Yannick Hanfmann. Played on Court 1, the match will begin at the end of the two scheduled earlier, starting at 2:30 p.m.: likely, barring faster-than-average matches, an evening start for the ATP No. 1.
