F1, Max Verstappen and the “simulator case”: Red Bull’s thoughts
The Dutchman played the simulator until 3 a.m., then è took to the track
Max Verstappen è in the eye of the storm. The results are not coming and his nervousness è confirmation that the three-time World Champion does not è serene as when he dominated on the track. Many have criticized his decision to spend so many hours playing the simulator. Specifically, they did not è like his choice to drive on the simulator until 3 a.m. and then get into his Red Bull for the Hungarian GP.
In defense of Max Verstappen came the words of Helmut Marko, Red Bull consultant and trusted friend of the Dutch driver: "In Imola è he stayed awake even longer and won the race. He has his dose of sleep, he has always had it, the rest are words in the wind", his clear statements reported by Marca.
He is echoed by Christian Horner: "I think people draw their own conclusions, but Max knows what he needs and we trust his judgment about it. He knows how he has to prepare himself to face a Grand Prix, win it and be World Champion", explains the Red Bull team principal.
For the Red Bull top brass, therefore, the simulator is not è a problem and the hours spent playing at night by Max Verstappen are not the cause of his less-than-excellent performance at the Hungaroring. The real limitation è the Red Bull. Compared to the recent past, the single-seater is no longer è the best on the track. For three consecutive races, the Dutch driver has not won. This è the è only certainty at the moment.
