Adrian Newey pushes Sebastian Vettel away from Formula 1
The big comeback, at the moment, seems to be ruled out.
Sebastian Vettel as Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and, even earlier, the various Niki Lauda, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost and Michael Schumacher. This is one of the suggestions that are animating Formula 1 in these weeks of break before the return to the track for the U.S. Grand Prix. Yet someone who knows former Red Bull and Ferrari driver Adrian Newey very well doubts that even the four-time world champion may decide to return to the grid like his influential predecessors.
"I do not see a return of Vettel to Formula 1 as possible,” Newey said during an appearance on the High Performance Podcast.
Right now he is enjoying his private life, è he has moved on. He is, moreover, devoting himself to various interesting initiatives, which undoubtedly does him credit".
Words that do not seem to come by chance, since Newey from 2025 will work at the very Aston Martin that was the last stable for which Vettel raced before his departure from Formula 1. For the German, the most credited rumors spoke of a possible landing in Sauber after the Swiss team’s transition to the new ownership of Audi, also thanks to the presence in the team of Mattia Binotto.
Vettel has è shown up in Formula 1 on several occasions in the years since his retirement, always for initiatives corollary to the actual Grand Prix. Meanwhile, he è approached Porsche, testing the 963 Hypercar. And this could be a sign of his possible participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a future yet to be determined.
