It's official: the Valencia GP è has been cancelled. "Following the devastating floods that have hit the area, MotoGP è stands by the Valencia community," reads the note. “Our hearts are with all those who have suffered losses, even of great magnitude.
"We have been in constant contact with local authorities and the circuit to best assess how best to help and move forward. We feel a responsibility to each region in which we compete that goes far beyond sports and events.
After carefully evaluating the possible positive impact of a MotoGP race to be held in Valencia on postponed dates, taking into account the’need to ensure that no resources were taken away from the MotoGP presence from the necessary recovery efforts, the championship and local authorities were forced to cancel the 2024 Valencia GP".
"MotoGP will not run in Valencia, but for Valencia. The league will make a collective effort to support the relief funds already in place and ensure a positive impact connected to the area in the best way for the people and communities it has been a part of for so long. Efforts will already begin during the Malaysian GP and will continue at the final round in 2024, with a new venue and dates to be announced as soon as they are confirmed. The fans around the world, the drivers and the paddock deserve a sporting finish to the 2024 season that can make a vital contribution to supporting the communitiesà in which we race".
