Obereggen, one month to the start of the European Cup
Anticipation is growing for the oldest European Cup race currently on the international circuit: the 41st edition of the Obereggen men’s slalom è set for Monday, December 16 on the Maierl slope (maximum slope gradient up to 55 percent). The Obereggen European Cup will constitute, as usual, a prelude to the traditional World Cup slalom in Italy, this year’s slalom in Alta Badia on December 23.
In the 2023 edition, the Obereggen slalom was won by Swiss Schmidiger, second by Frenchman Amiez, and third by Austrian Rueland. The chronicle of the race will be broadcast on the same evening on Monday, Dec. 16, by channel Rai Sport (number 48 on the remote control).
Obereggen (20 minutes from Bolzano), one of the hearts of the Latemar ski area (with its Trentino sisters Pampeago and Predazzo), will be the first of the 12 valleys of the Dolomiti Superski international ski carousel to open the first lifts since the establishment of Dolomiti Superski. As a tribute to it and to the prestigious anniversary, Obereggen will open the turnstiles on Friday, Nov. 29, both at 8:30 a.m. and at night with the first night skiing at 7 p.m. and final party at the’Apres Ski Loox downstream from the historic Oberholz slope.
The Obereggen ski pass office for pre-sales of the Val di Fiemme-Obereggen and Dolomiti Superski Family season passes è open Nov. 15 with a special promotion for junior skiers, bringing the age to take advantage of the special 16- to 18-year-old ski pass. This is a ski pass that provides a 30 percent discount on the price of daily and multi-day ski passes. From Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at 8.30 a.m. è the lifts and slopes of Obereggen, Pampeago and Predazzo and their connections are scheduled to open.
