Wimbledon, the opponents of the other Italians in the two singles matches

Jasmine Paolini, a finalist at Wimbledon 12 months ago, will make her debut on the London lawns on Monday against Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia. Paolini, who is ranked No. 4 at the Championships, was drawn at the top of the women’s singles draw, the one manned by world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
There are a total of three Italian women players in the main draw at the All England Club: in addition to Paolini, Lucia Bronzetti, who is expected to face Swiss Jill Teichman, and Elisabetta Cocciaretto, opposing U.S. Jessica Pegula.
Nourished Italian presence among the men, counting 11 athletes starting with Jannik Sinner. In the same (high) part of the draw as the world No. 1, drawn at the start against Luca Nardi, also ended up Lorenzo Musetti, Sinner’s possible opponent in the quarters, who will face Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili in the first round, and Flavio Cobolli, at the start opposing Kazakh qualifier Beibit Zhukayev.
The Italian team also had a strong presence in the men’s section.
In the lower part of the scoreboard, the challenge awaiting Fabio Fognini, starring Monday on the Central against title holder Carlos Alcaraz, stands out. For Matteo Berrettini, Alexander Zverev’s possible opponent in the third round, the opener is Poland’s Kamil Majchrczak.
The other pairings include Dutchman Botic Van de Zandschulp for Matteo Arnaldi, Portuguese Jaime Faria for Lorenzo Sonego, Russian Roman Safiullin for Luciano Darderi, British wild card Oliver Crawford for Mattia Bellucci, and Japanese Shintaro Mochizuki for qualifier Giulio Zeppieri.
