It will be Carlos Alcaraz who will face Taylor Fritz in the semifinals scheduled for Thursday at Wimbledon: the Murcian in fact swept aside Cameron Norrie, number 61 in the world and the only one, among the quarterfinal qualifiers, not to be part of the initial seed, with a 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 that alone is enough to give an idea of the match’s progress.

Faced with the opportunity to reach at least the semifinals of the Championships for the third consecutive year after his successes in 2023 and 2024, Alcaraz did not tremble: the No. 2 ranking player never lost a game on his own serve, instead getting five decisive breaks, two in the first set, two in the second and one in the third, enough to make him slip easily to victory in one hour and 40 minutes.

Norrie is still credited with a respectable path to the London Slam, however: Before meeting Alcaraz, in fact, the Briton had beaten Spain&#8217s Roberto Bautista-Agut 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(3), the US&#8217s Frances Tiafoe 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5, Italy&#8217s Mattia Bellucci 7-6(5), 6-4, 6-3 and Chile&#8217s Nicolas Jarry 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-7(7), 6-7(5), 6-3. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native, however, failed to match his best Wimbledon result, the semifinal he reached in 2022.

For Carlos Alcaraz, on the other hand, Tuesday’s was victory number 23 in a row.

In fact, since the final knockout in Barcelona against Rune, the Murcian has not missed a beat, winning all his matches played in Rome, Roland Garros, Queen’s and, so far, Wimbledon. There are two previous records against Fritz, both of which smile on the Iberian: 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the Miami Masters 1000 in 2023 and 6-2, 7-5 in last year&#8217s Laver Cup.
