Italvolley, Alessia Orro doesn’t trust "her" Turkey

Italy prepares for the penultimate challenge of the intercontinental phase of the Volleyball Nations League. Tomorrow, at 7 p.m. at the Omnisport Arena in Apeldoorn, CT Julio Velasco’s Azzurri will take the court in the high-stakes challenge with Turkey.
Reduced by the 3-0 win over Serbia, captain Danesi and her teammates will be hunting for their 11th consecutive VNL seal to extend the winning streak opened in June 2024 VNL Week 2 in Macau to 25. Record numbers to be confirmed against CT Daniele Santarelli’s Turkey, which, for its part, has so far suffered only one defeat (tonight at 8:30 p.m. it takes the court with Czech Rep.) at the hands of Brazil in the previous week played in Istanbul. Important numbers that will make even more interesting and expected one of the most authentic rivalries of international women’s volleyball decisive also to draw almost definitively, one day before the end of Pool 7, the overall standings and therefore the possible pairings ahead of the Finals in Lodz.
To present the awaited match with Turkey is the Italian setter, Alessia Orro: “It will definitely be a difficult and hard-fought match – debuted the Italian setter, who next year will play with Fenerbahçe -. We know that Turkey is a tough team that on many occasions has put us in trouble. It will be a difficult match, beautiful to watch and certainly to play and will be an important moment to understand what we still need to work on to improve further”.
“I am convinced that this moment has not generated great pressure. We don’t think about how many wins we have or the records we could break because we are all focused on what we need to do to be more and more competitive and solid on the court. We think about game after game, knowing that repeating last year’s will be virtually impossible. We do not have to and want to think that 2024 is the norm, and therefore this awareness is helping us and will have to help us approach what we will have to face game after game in the right way. There are steps to take and we know that we can only complete them by going through a bit of suffering. Right now we just have to think about training, playing well, and trying to keep winning”.
