New vice-Maignan for AC Milan, Sportiello says goodbye and returns to'antique

Looking ahead to next season, Milan has chosen to change the name of Mike Maignan’s deputy: Marco Sportiello, after two years as ’12’ rossonero, is in fact returning to Atalanta, while the via Aldo Rossi club is picking up Pietro Terracciano from Fiorentina. The latter chose to tie himself to Milan for one year, with the possibility of subsequent renewal for a second season.

“AC Milan announces that it has permanently acquired the sports performance of the player Pietro Terracciano– reads the official channels of the meneghina club -. The Italian goalkeeper has signed a contract with the Rossoneri club until June 30, 2026, extendable upon the occurrence of certain conditions until June 30, 2027″.

Terracciano, who will wear the number 1 jersey at Milan, will thus take the place of Marco Sportiello, who has decided to link up again with Atalanta, which he had left in 2023 when his contract expires: “The club – reads the parting note – thanks Marco for his profuse commitment and professionalism always shown and wishes him the best personal and professional satisfaction”.

Brought up soccer-wise in Avellino, Pietro Terracciano arrived at AC Milan at age 35, after defending the posts of Avellino, Nocerina, Milazzo, Catania, Salernitana, Empoli and Fiorentina. With Empoli he won the’only team trophy of his professional career, the 2017-2018 Serie B championship. In 2023-2024 he was elected in the best seasonal eleven of the Conference League, a trophy lost in the finals for two consecutive years to West Ham (2022) and Olympiacos (2023).
