Venus Williams eternal, historic singles victory at age 45

Venus Williams has written another page of history. At 45, the eldest of the sisters who dominated world tennis has become the “oldest” player to win a WTA singles match since 2004, when the then 47-year-old Martina Navratilova overcame Catalina Castaño at Wimbledon.
She did so at the Mubadala Citi DC Open, the WTA 500 in Washington, beating Peyton Stearns, world number 35, 6-3 6-4.
“It’s the first step – Venus–s warm words -It’s hard to describe how complicated it is to play a match after such a long time of stop. Then I am here with my friends, my family, people I love. I also feel so much affection from the fans. It’s simply been a wonderful evening”.
“There are no limits to excellence. It all depends on what is in your head and how hard you are willing to work. If you work hard mentally, physically and emotionally, then you can get results. It doesn’t matter how many times you fall. It doesn’t matter how many times you get sick or hurt or whatever. If you continue to believe and commit, there will be an opportunity for you” he concluded.
